The Scratch Perverts are a turntablist collective made up of Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One and have been going since the mid 90s. They won the first ever DMC team event and individually they won a number of scratch events. By 2000 they held six different titles at once.
They are known for mixing up hip hop with other styles – from the Neptunes to Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Squarepusher to Radiohead to Dillinja and more. They have a Fabric Live CD out now called Fabric Live 22.
The Scratch Perverts will be holding their annual Beatdown at Fabric in November and we're giving you the chance to get on that line-up.
All you have to do is send us a 30 minute DJ mix. It can be any genre; drum 'n' bass, grime, hip-hop - whatever your flava.
The best mix will win you a chance to perform your set at Beatdown!
The mixes will be judged by the Perverts and we asked Tony Vegas what he would be listening for:
"We want to hear a set that flows and something that would work on a big sound system. The most important thing is confidence, we want to hear confident DJs. We're not looking for any one genre as long as it's edgy and the person is confident in their taste in music."
The closing date is Thursday 1st September 2005. Send your 30 minute mixes on CD only to:
